The Story of Antique Chime Bells Instrument

The Chime Bells Instrument is a traditional Chinese percussion instrument that originated in the Bronze Age. Made of bronze, the Chime Bells Instrument consists of different-sized bells arranged in order and suspended on a huge frame. It is often used in combination with Bianqing (a Chinese instrument made of stones or jade). In the phrase "金ēŸ³ä¹‹å£°" (sounds of metal and stone), "metal" refers to Chime Bells, and "stone" refers to Bianqing.

According to historical records and unearthed relics,Ā Chime Bells InstrumentĀ existed in China as early as the Western Zhou Dynasty, usually consisting of three bells of different sizes. During the late Spring and Autumn Period to the Warring States Period, the number ofĀ Chime Bells gradually increased, with sets of nine or thirteen bells becoming common.
